It resembles English in part and German in part, but it does not have the grammatical cases or the three genders, just two: common (unified feminine and masculine) and neuter.
It has the R as in Spanish and Italian, and a curious case: the G is always pronounced as in Spanish in Gente. The D becomes T at the end of the syllable, so for them God is hot: God is pronounced Jot.
English, some African languages and Afrikaans, a language descended from Dutch, are spoken in South Africa (O).
