The longest word in Dutch
In the Dutch language, the word "kindercarnavalsoptochtvoorbereidingswerkzaamhedencomitéleden" has 60 letters, and refers to the members of the preparatory activities committee for a children's carnival procession.
It is in the 2011 Guinness Book of Records as the longest Dutch word. The Dutch like to write words without spaces between them, which is reflected very well in this term.
meervoudige-persoonlijkheids-stoornissen
38 letters long, meaning "multiple personality disorders". However, the dictionary entry is in the singular, counting 35 letters.
The word often said to be the longest in Dutch is Hottentotten--tenten-tentoonstellings SOLDATEN-bouwterrein ("Hottentotten soldiers' display tent building plant"); with 53 letters.
